Protect your O-rings from extrusion and extend the life of your hydraulic sealing system with our PTFE Split Hydraulic Back-Up Rings. Engineered for demanding high-pressure applications, these rings act as a critical secondary barrier — preventing your primary O-ring from being forced into the clearance gap between mating components under dynamic or static load.
Why Split?
The split design allows for fast, tool-free installation without full disassembly of the hydraulic assembly. Whether you're performing field maintenance or a scheduled rebuild, the split configuration saves time and reduces downtime — without compromising sealing integrity.
Material Advantages
Chemically inert: Compatible with virtually all hydraulic fluids, lubricants, solvents, and aggressive media
Ultra-low friction: Minimizes stick-slip and breakout force for smooth, consistent actuation
Wide temperature range: Rated from -65°F to +400°F (-54°C to +204°C)
Non-aging: Resistant to compression set, UV, and ozone degradation
FDA-compliant material available for food-grade and pharmaceutical applications
Applications
Hydraulic cylinder piston and rod seals
Pneumatic actuators and cylinders
High-pressure dynamic and static sealing systems
Industrial machinery and mobile hydraulics
Any application subject to pressure spikes or bidirectional loading
Installation Notes
Back-up rings are typically installed on the low-pressure side of the O-ring in single-acting systems, or in pairs (one on each side) for bidirectional or high-pressure applications. Sized to match standard AS568 or metric O-ring groove dimensions.
